About the I am the door card
I shot the photograph of this door in Prague, Czech Republic, when we were visiting friends there a couple of years ago. Prague is full of wonderful old buildings with beautiful doors like this one.
But the point of this card is not the beauty of the door. The point of the card is what happens when we go through the door. The text of this card is from John 10, where Jesus promises abundant life to those who follow Him. LIFE is on the other side of the door. He didn’t promise an easy life, but an abundant one, full of His presence, no matter what happens.
I was also thinking of Revelation 3:20 when I wrote made this card: Behold I stand at the door and knock, if anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come into him and will dine with him and he with Me.
Eating with someone was and is still considered an intimate act in the Middle East. Sharing a meal there is not the same as grabbing a burger on the run with a friend here. Sharing a meal together means taking your time, revealing yourself, and listening to your dinner companions.
This is the kind of experience that Jesus invites us into. He is waiting to give us so much more than we can ever imagine.
